Volume 2
Research Themes
"Lucid Tinn Brains, Madness, and Challenging the Medicalization and Psychiatrization of Bipolar Disorder and ADHD" is Volume 2 of the Ableism & Healthcare Now project. It explores three research themes:
- Describing the ‘lucid tinn brain,’ a framework for rethinking bipolar disorder and ADHD beyond psychiatry, informed by Celtic spirituality,
- Exploring how the health care system imposes colonial and psychiatric frameworks of mental illness onto mad people and the health impacts,
- Critiquing the popularization of neurodiversity theory from a perspective of demedicalization, depsychiatrization, and the 'lucid tinn brain'.
Volume 2 was launched in January 2026 and is active, with several publications expected in 2026.
