Volume 2

Research Themes

"Lucid Tinn Brains, Madness, and Challenging the Medicalization and Psychiatrization of Bipolar Disorder and ADHD" is Volume 2 of the Ableism & Healthcare Now project. It explores three research themes:

  1. Describing the ‘lucid tinn brain,’ a framework for rethinking bipolar disorder and ADHD beyond psychiatry, informed by Celtic spirituality,
  2. Exploring how the health care system imposes colonial and psychiatric frameworks of mental illness onto mad people and the health impacts,
  3. Critiquing the popularization of neurodiversity theory from a perspective of demedicalization, depsychiatrization, and the 'lucid tinn brain'.

Volume 2 was launched in January 2026 and is active, with several publications expected in 2026.
